Making an appointment

In consultation with your surgeon the decision to operate has been taken and a date has been fixed. So now you need to make an appointment with the anaesthetist.

KNOW MORE

Emergency admission

The consultation with the anaesthetist will take place either in the emergency room, or in the admission room, or in the anaesthetics consulting room, depending on your state of health. In the case of emergency admission, it is unlikely that your anaesthetic will be administered by the anaesthetist who examined you at the consultation.

In the operating theatre

In your room, before you go into theatre, a nurse will probably administer your premedication. This is prescribed by your anaesthetist to help you to relax and to prepare you for the anaesthetic.
